Softsqueeze audio output

Hi there,

I was just wondering if anyone had a working softsqueeze configuration with softsqueeze outputing audio to a pcm mixer (eg dmix). I know that there is a limitation in the Java Sound API that only allows output directly to a hardware device; however, I did see this page which describes a working configuration: http://www.razorsedge.org/~mike/docs/asoundrc.html
Unfortunately, this page is pretty old and when I tried the same steps and same .asoundrc it did not work for me.

I also know that squeezeslave does allow you to output to a pcm mixer; however, squeezeslave seems to have problems connecting to mysqueezebox.com which is why I am trying to go the softsqueeze route instead.
