Not if you plan is to not have the files on your computer's disc.
Dropbox doesn't allow you to access files from your computer without
downloading them. Eg. you can prevent certain folders from being synced
to your computer. But then you no longer have direct access to them.
I'm using a software called ExpanDrive to do this (which is great!). But
whenever you want to access a file, it'll need to be downloaded to your
computer. If you wanted to scan such a folder, the tool would need to
download all of your files to get them scanned. That just won't work.
I know that Dropbox' API gives access to some metadata of image files.
But I don't think there's something similar for audio files.
