This is an announcement of a plugin that integrates Chromecast audio devices with LMS so they behave like a normal player (squeezelite). It is largely derived from my other plugin UPnPBridge.
There is no documentation at this time, for general concept look at the UPnPBridge informations. There are two parts
- a proper LMS plugin which just here for managing configuration file and start/stop of the bridge application itself
- the bridge application which is the proxy between the 'Cast' side and the LMS side. It exists for Windows, Linux (ARM, x86, x64) and OSX. It does not have to run on the LMS computer, any computer on the same network will work, but the auto installation will use the same machine.
Normally, just add the repository https://sourceforge.net/projects/lms...ev/repo-sf.xml in the plugin page, go to the settings to check but it should work, no parameter tweaking is normally needed (it's more simple than UPnP). It will install the bridge application on the LMS machine and run it.
There is no gapless (I don't think Cast supports it) nor smart transition. Don't try synchronization with other players, it will not work and have unpredictable results. Joined start is possible, but don't try to keep synchronization during playback.
Currently, version 0.1.0.0-dev-xx is pre-alpha quality and mainly tested under Windows. It is probably still crashy and buggy and interaction with other chromecast control app is unknown. To avoid problem, best is to switch off the player in LMS to avoid any undesired interaction
